UNDERWATER 2020, a contemporary art exhibition with an underwater theme.
Underwater 2020 is an exhibition of underwater-inspired multi-media contemporary art featuring local artists. It is ‘open’ to anyone to apply. The work selected will be chosen by a panel of professional artists.
A prize will be awarded for one piece of work as judged to be ‘best in show’ by the panel. This will be announced at the private view on Friday 28th August 2020.
A ‘People’s Choice’ prize will be awarded to the artist whose work attracts the greatest number of votes from the visiting public. It will be presented at 4pm on Monday 31st August 2020.
Where the artist has indicated that their work is for sale, it can be purchased by museum visitors and collected from the Diving Museum at 4pm on Monday 31st August 2020 (between 4pm and 6pm).
Selected works will be further exhibited throughout September and October at the Gosport Discovery Centre Café Gallery

INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS
Work can be in any medium, including sculpture/3D Assemblage/ Audio /Projection / Film, and must have an underwater theme.
We would particularly welcome work in response either to a particular museum artefact, climate change or recycling.
This is an unusual and limited exhibition space and artwork will be positioned among the diving exhibits. It is suggested that, if possible, artists visit the museum beforehand to look at the space. As it’s a Listed Building in most instances work cannot be fixed to the walls.
New Submission Information: To submit up to two pieces of work for consideration for the Underwater 2020 exhibition please deliver them to the Diving Museum on Wednesday 26th August 2020 between 3pm and 6pm. At the same time, you can complete an application form, available at the Museum and pay the fee of £5, by cash or card. Please ensure each piece submitted is clearly labelled with its title, your name, medium and price (or NFS) and your contact telephone/email. Artists are invited to sell cards based on their artwork. Each card to cost no more than £2 each. There will be a small charge for this. All unsold cards to be collected at the end of the exhibition.
Terms and Conditions: Any work submitted for Underwater 2020 can be for sale. 10% commission will be taken by the Diving Museum. Each artist should have their own insurance cover for their work. The Diving Museum will curate all the work.
Selected works will be taken to the Gosport Discovery Centre Café Gallery where they will be displayed throughout September and October. If you wish your work to be considered for exhibition at the Discovery Centre, you will need to comply with their Terms and Conditions. Please note that work will need to be framed – unless on canvas – and fixed with mirror plates. Gosport Discovery Centre will take 25% commission on all sales.

New Gosport Discovery Centre Café Gallery exhibition: Following on from the exhibition at the Museum, selected wall-based works will be exhibited at the Gosport Discovery Centre Café Gallery during the months of September and October 2020.
