The Girl on the Ocean Floor
Lotte Hass

When Lotte Baierl got a job as secretary to the famous underwater diver, Hans Hass, she thought she was going to join him on his diving expeditions. But Hass considered diving unsuitable for women. Then, an accident forced Hass to use his secretary in an underwater film. Afterwards he reluctantly admired her and declared, “Today, you are a man”. Lotte became the most famous female diver of her generation featuring in Hass’s award-winning films of the underwater world. This is her story.
