How much it would be and how long we would get?
The hire price is based on £275 for 8pm to 2am, though we can be flexible on timing.
What deposit would we need to give?
A deposit of £50 is required to reserve a date for your event.
The deposit must be paid no later than 14 days before your event.
Note: The deposit is not refundable, however, if notice of cancellation is given no later than 14 days before the event, it can be transferred to reserve another available date.
How do we pay the balance of £225?
1 You can pay by credit card on arrival at No. 2 Battery.
2 You can request to pay online – it must be paid at least 48 hours beforehand.
3 By cheque on the night (cheques are payable to the “Historical Diving Society”)
4 By bank transfer – it must be paid 7 days in advance. Our bank details are:

What is included eg Refreshments etc?
We are unable to provide refreshments but you are welcome to bring your own. There is an outside drinking water tap and we have a boiling water urn.
How many people we can bring?
A maximum of 50 attendees.
Other:
There are no toilets in the building. We have a key for the public toilets outside the front door.
A public car park is alongside and there is no charge after 7pm.
A Museum Guide will be in attendance throughout to offer any assistance required.
No 2 BATTERY – The home of The Diving Museum
No 2 Battery was part of the great Victorian fortification of Portsmouth Harbour under Lord Palmerston. In 1857 Major Jervois had proposed a complex system of moats (ditches), ramparts and batteries.
No.2 Battery is now a grade II listed building and it is the best preserved of the Stokes Bay Batteries. During World War Two the military used the battery. In 1947 it was being used by the Special Armament Development Establishment (S.A.D.E.) based in Fort Gomer. In 1950 the Battery was in use by the 7th Royal Tank Regiment Amphibious Wing. The Military agreed the release of the battery in November 1951. The moat around it was filled in 1956.
In 1982 Gosport Council converted the casemates and magazines of No. 2 Battery into a nuclear bunker (Civil Defence Command Post). The two 6-inch gun emplacements are intact on top of the battery but are not accessible.
