SIGNED COPY
219 years ago, in the village of Opatowice, now a district of Wrocław, Karl Heinrich Klingert demonstrated to crowds of spectators how to immerse a person in a diving suit. The diver walked along the Oder River, from the riverbank to the river’s center, and cut down a tree protruding from the bottom. These few steps, made possible by Karl Heinrich Klingert’s brilliant invention, forever cemented Wrocław’s place in diving history.
