Harry Watts, The Forgotten Hero
Richard Callaghan and David Simpson
From the back cover:
In 1892, at the age of 66, an old sailor from Sunderland jumped into the River Wear to rescue a young boy from drowning. It was the 36th such rescue in a life filled with heroism and tragedy, and was to be Harry Watts’ last. This book is an account of his life from his birth in Sunderland to his death in 1913, just as Britain prepared for the Great War.
