Description
AN ADMIRALTY DIVER’S STUDENT TRAINING NOTES by Leading Seaman W Gerry Harper, RN.
This book is a compilation of student notes issued to trainee divers of the Royal Navy dating from the 1950s. It covers subjects from equipment (including use and maintenance), operational procedures, divers signals, tools, diving tables, and physiology of diving. It contains diagrams and photographs throughout – mostly in black and white, with some illustrations in colour.
The joy of the book is in the quality of the information rather than the quality of reproduction. Some of the photographs are possibly copies of copies and as a result the images are not sharp and clear. But bear in mind that the originals were taken 50-60 years ago.
The book is a fascinating insight into the equipment and procedures of Royal Navy diver training in the mid 20th century.
