John Mullen will be recounting the story of a duel that took place on the beach just yards from the museum. It was 1854 and duelling was illegal in England. But the two combatants defied the law and squared up to each other on Browndown beach. A young man died, probably the last Englishman to die on English soil as a result of a duel.

What drove them to resort to a duel?

The story did not end there. What happened next?

Come and join John Mullen in the museum at 3pm to hear the amazing tale.
