Jagt unter Wasser mit Harpune und Kamera [Hunting underwater with Harpoon and Camera]. Hass's first book - never translated into English.

1941

Unter Korallen und Haien (Among corals and sharks). Not translated into English but translated into French as Mes Chasses Sous-marines (1950)

1942

Fotojagd am Meeresgrund. Never translated into English.

1943

Thesis on Rose Coral. Written in German it includes an account of diving and underwater photography methods. Bound copy presented to The Historical Diving Society.

1947

Drei Jager auf dem Meeresgrund. Published in Zurich. Later translated into English as Diving to Adventure and into French as Trois chasseurs sous la mer. (Editions Arthaud, 1956)

1949

Menshen und Haie (Zurich). Later translated into English as Men and Sharks and into French as Hommes et requins (Hachette, 1952)

1951

Diving to Adventure (American Edition) published by Doubleday.

1952

Manta, Teufel im Toten Meer. Later translated into English as Under the Red Sea and into French as Les démons des mers (Hachette, 1953)

(August) Diving to Adventure. First book to appear in English in UK, published by Jarrolds. Pre-dated the appearance of Cousteau's The Silent World of 1953. A best seller and Daily Mail Book of the Month.

(November) Under the Red Sea (Jarrolds). Also a best seller in UK. The story of a post-war Red Sea expedition.

1953

Manta. US edition of Under the Red Sea, published by Rand, McNally.

1954

Men and Sharks (Jarrolds). Account of earlier expedition to Greece.

1955

Ich fotograftierte in den 7 Meeren [I photographed under the Seven Seas]. German account of Xarifa expeditions.

Trois chasseurs sous la mer (ARTHAUD Editions).

Wir kommen aus dem Meer, Forschung und Arbenteuer mit der Xarifa (Berlin). Later translated into English as We come from the Sea.

Expedition ins Unbekannte (Berlin). Later translated into English as Expedition into the Unknown.

Irenaus Eibl-Eibesfeldt, a scientist on Hass's yacht Xarifa published a popular version of the Indian Ocean cruise under the title Land of a Thousand Atolls (McGibbon & Kee).

Expedition into the Unknown (Hutchinson). Continuing Xarifa expeditions.

1970

The Human Animal, a work on human behaviour (no diving or underwater content).

1972

To Unplumbed Depths (Harrap). Originally published in Vienna in German version the year before. An account of diving history with some biographical notes.

Lotte Hass published Girl on the Ocean Floor (Harrap). Originally published in German (Vienna,1970) An account of her diving with Hans Hass.

Conquest of the Underwater world (David & Charles). Originally published in German (Zurich, 1973 under the title Welt Unterwasser.)

Michael Jung (HDS Member) published his illustrated biography of Hans Hass, Hans Hass, in Leben lang auf Expedition in German. (Verlag Stephanie Naglschmid - Stuttgaart). An English Publisher is being sought. Hans Hass has of course published numerous articles and scientific papers over the years. Many of these are detailed in Michael Jung's book.
