International Diving Festival 2005

Kalymnos, Greece - the home of sponge divers, holds its 2nd International Diving Festival from 22nd August - 2nd September 2005.

All divers, along with anyone interested in diving will find a warm welcome and plenty of friendly hospitality.

Enjoy exploring the sea around the island, with its caves and wrecks. Experience the excitement of sampling traditional diving methods with the island's legendary sponge fishing crews.

Try the "Skafandro" helmet suit and complete in the "Skandalopetra" dive - a plunge from a sponge boat with a flat stone and a lungful of air as your only equipment.

The festival offers a full programme of scuba diving, free diving and athletic events. Island tours, song and dance and other cultural happenings, together with sunshine, beaches and tasty local food will make this a rich and unmissable event.
