The Historical Diving Society was formed in the United Kingdom in 1990. It has grown into an international organisation with members and offshoot societies around the world.
The Society exists to promote interest and awareness into the history of underwater exploration. The Society encourages research and publication, organises visits, conferences and exhibitions, and issues a regular newsletter. The Society also supports those interested in the renovation and use of classic diving equipment.
